fascinating conversation. i was searching for substack pubs that addressed the donor class and your podcast popped up. "ruling class"--that's very lefty, socialist language. i know you gents utterly disavow any such association, but i find it a compelling word choice.
i would like to recommend mike lofgren's essay "anatomy of the deep state". mr. lofgren was a life-long congressional staffer for the republican party, however, he writes in a very non-partisan vernacular that might appeal to your political sensibilities.
